We have met our first goal!

We wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who have helped us to meet our very first goal!  The outpouring of love we have received through the selling of our cookbooks has been absolutely amazing!  We will be turning in our paperwork this week.  It's so exciting to be moving forward.  Our next goal is to get the money together for our home study.  We will be busy over the next few weeks getting the house ready.  We even have our first item for the baby-a boppy pillow.  I saw one that I absolutely loved, and Brad bought it for me for Christmas.  It is through the grace of God that this is all happening.  To Him be the Glory forever!

Cookbooks Are Here!

As I have mentioned, we are selling cookbooks to help cover our adoption costs.  They are finished, and they will be here by the beginning of next week.  We are so excited, because this means we are even closer to our goal!  God is Great!!!  If you are interested in buying a cookbook, let us know.  They are $10 and have approximately 275 recipes in it.  We thank you for your love and support.

Newest Update

We have come a little bit farther than the last time we posted on here.  We have made progress on our paperwork, and we have turned in our recipes for the cookbook.  The cookbooks should be arriving within the next month or so.  The proceeds from the sales will go towards our fees for paperwork, the home study, and the finalization process.  If you are interested in ordering a cookbook, please let us know.  We thank you for your continued support and prayers!

God Bless,
Brad and Heather Martin

Just a little update.  We are still working hard on our paperwork and trying to get our necessary appointments set up.  We are happy to say that today we set up our adoption savings account.  We are working hard to save up what we need to turn in the paperwork, and we are still getting the cookbook put together.  If anyone would like to donate to our fund, you can e-mail me at hmartin1@bellsouth.net. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers, and we will continue to keep you updated as we move along in our process.

Fundraising

My mother-in-law is putting a cookbook together to help us raise money for our adoption costs.  We are hoping to gather 200-250 recipes for the book.  If any of you have recipes you would like to share, or would want to purchase one of the books, please let Brad or I know.  You can send your recipes to me at hmartin1@bellsouth.net or to Brad at bradm9222@bellsouth.net  We need them by June 14th.  Thank you so much for your love and support!

Our Story

Hi. We are Brad and Heather Martin, and this is our story of how we decided to adopt.  We have been married for almost 6 years, and we have tried to get pregnant for the last 3 1/2 to 4 years.  We have had close to 2 years of fertility struggles.  The doctor told us that our only choice was to do In Vitro or sperm donor.  We decided that a sperm donor was not something we wanted to do.  I always said that I would adopt before I would do In Vitro.  Brad and I talked about it and decided that we would start looking into adoption.  I noticed that three of my weekly devos in a book I received from my mother-in-law were about adoption.  It was then that I knew without a doubt that adoption was the route we needed to take and my wonderful husband agreed.  We talked to our friends and family about our decision, and they were just as happy with it as we were.  We filled out the preliminary application and got approved.  We then filled out our formal app and went through orientation.  We have now started our 8 weeks of training and have also started on the extensive amount of paperwork.  We will keep everyone up to date on the status of our process and would appreciate any and all prayers.
